Comparison
Old Major represent Karl Marx in Animal Farm, because they both plays the same role in the book/event, and they share a lot of similarities. First, both of them are not impressed by the way things are going for their country and the person in charge. Karl Marx was not satisfied with Czar Nicholas II, because he wasn't a good Czar and that lot of solider died in WW I, the solider didn't have enough training, medical care, weapon, and food ("Rational revolution," 2007). Similar happened to Old Major and his fellow animals in Animal Farm. Mr. Jones treated them cruelly, focus them to work to their limit, and only providing them the amount of food they need in order to barely stay a life, so the whole farm was not satisfied with Mr. Jones. Old Major and Karl Marx are both the reason why a revolution took place, Karl Marx published a which had the idea of communism in it, which gave the Russia citizen the idea of revolution. While Old Major gave a speech, about how human is responsible for their tough life, and that human should not own the farm, "Man is the only creature that consumes without producing." said Old Major, which lead to the animal revolting the day after Old Major's death.
Effectiveness
In Animal Farm, George Orwell effectively presented the relationship he was trying to show between Karl Marx and Old Major. They were both significant figures who proposed the idea of getting rid of the existing regime and said that it's time for change. They both had strong opinions which ended up in revolution that they think will benefit everyone.
